For the past 10 years, the Town of Truckee has undertaken a number of planning efforts and collaborated with local citizens, Town staff, and Town officials to establish a plan for the Railyard and the downtown area. In 2004, the Town formed a partnership with Holliday Development to prepare a formal plan for the Railyard Area.

The Railyard is proposed to be a mixed-used, pedestrian friendly development incorporating workforce housing, civic, entertainment, and commercial uses. The objectives of the plan are to:

• Invest in Downtown Truckee
• Strengthen the Local Economy
• Create a Sustainable Plan for the Future
• Support the Restoration of Trout Creek
• Create more Workforce Housing

For the past several years, the Town and Holliday have been holding workshops and meetings to gather community input. Today, that work and input has resulted in a Draft Master Plan and Draft Environmental Impact Report being published, a step that opens the door for more public involvement and towards bringing the vision of the town to reality.
