Infrastructure
Improved infrastructure is an integral part of the Railyard Master Plan and will be the focus of the first phase of work. Improvements include changes to roads and circulation, restoring Trout Creek, and relocating the
railroad balloon track further to the east on the site.
Roads and Circulation
Proposed is the creation of a "T" intersection between Donner Pass Road and Donner Pass Road Extension. This will create a seamless transition between the existing downtown and the Railyard and allow for a
pedestrian friendly neighborhood. Current crossings of Donner Pass Road near the Railyard is dangerous and would create a divide between the existing downtown and new development. This will also minimize the
sometimes hazardous left turns and backups at Glenshire Drive and Donner Pass Road, providing easier circulation from Glenshire to the downtown area.
Trout Creek Restoration
Proposed is the restoration of Trout Creek to a more stable and naturally-functioning creek channel corridor within and upstream of the Master Plan Area. The restoration project will restore approximately
6,000 feet of the natural creek channel corridor with a combination of channel regrading and floodplain restoration.
Balloon Track Relocation
Moving the balloon track east prevents splitting the neighborhood in two and allows for the restoration of Trout Creek that is currently constrained by the tracks. This movement improves the potential of the
downtown, accelerates clean-up of the soils, and limits the potential flooding from the creek into the downtown area.
